I would love to see the homes and areas that are rebuilt to retain their individuality AND add even more character. So many older houses were destroyed - well built, beautiful homes - and it is truly sad for the homeowners and for other residents of the city. It breaks my heart to see houses that I've loved (from the outside) all my life to be destroyed or so badly damaged that they will not look the same once they are repaired. I would love for those homes to be rebuilt in a way that honors the history of the city AND the people who lost so much on 4/27. I would also like to see changes that reflect how proud we are of our city in areas like 15th St., 10th Ave., University Blvd. and surrounding areas - such as sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping, covered benches at bus stops, ELEVATED pedestrian sidewalks over busy intersections. Vintage, old-style Tuscaloosa charm and structure (a la Queen City and such places) with modern conveniences. I truly hope that Forest Lake remains the neighborhood that it always has been and I hope that students/renters and homeowners/permanent Alberta City is a character in itself and I think it should remain interesting. I would love to see row houses and town homes in the rental areas. Plants trees, build neighborhood gazebos and green spaces, neighborhood watches. Rebuild the firestation as a state of the art facility.
