In the rebuilding process, try to incorporate changes that reduce traffic on major roads such as 15th Street and McFarland Blvd. This could be achieved through reducing dependence on automobiles with enhanced mass transit, bicycle paths, and extensive sidewalk systems. In addition, alternative routes could be introduced into the road systems that provide alternatives to the major arteries. Besides making the community more livable and pleasant, changes such as these would reduce pollution and our dependence on gasoline.
