I worked in recovery all over the city, and did door-to-door needs assessment for the city in the Downs and Glendale Gardens. Practically the only trees still standing were magnolias. Low center of gravity, good root structure. That might be a good bet for future plantings. We might be rechristened the Magnolia City instead of Druid City, with all the positive implications of strength and 'steeliness'!
